Mr. Stewart has over 30 years experience in sales and management in a variety of fields. He has been involved in retail and business to business sales, has managed sales forces of up to 60 and has headed sales, marketing and business development for two successful start-ups.
In 1995, Mr. Stewart began to apply his expertise in management and business development to the maritime market. His initial project was as business development manager for Boatside Services, Inc., a marine environmental services company. In the first two years, he established a market niche for the company with 4 US locations providing both environmental accountability and a unique service concept.
In 2000, he co-founded Marine Environmental Partners, Inc. The company was formed to meet the challenges of identifying and developing technology solutions for the maritime industry necessary to meet expanding environmental regulation. Over the following 5 years, he acted as both Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs. In addition to coauthoring several papers on ballast water technology, he has spoken at or chaired numerous international conferences on technology solutions for ballast water and shipboard wastewater and has participated at the regional, national and international level of government affairs regarding ballast water regulations and proposed technological solutions.
He formed International Maritime Technology Consultants, Inc. in 2005 offering consulting services to government and industry with a specialization in the field of ballast water. He currently serves on the US delegation to the International Maritime Organization as a technical advisor on ballast water issues.
