Tom’s 15 years in the marine industry has been benefited by his 37 years of management in Protective Coatings Industry. He has most recently been employed by International Paint, Inc. where he had responsibilities for Sales and Marketing, Cruise Industry Market Development and served as Executive Vice President – General Manager of the Heavy Duty Division in the USA.
Tom began his career after graduation from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1963 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He served as an officer in the US Army Corps of Engineers and taught Combat Engineering at the Engineer Officers Basic and Advanced School at Ft Belvoir; Virginia. He attended night school at The George Washington University and completed requirements for an MSBA.
Upon discharge from the Army, Tom joined The Glidden Paint Company where he worked for 18 years. He held several management positions in manufacturing, sales and marketing, engineering plant design, construction and start-up and was President – General Manager of Gliddens subsidiary in Milan; Italy.
Tom spent his last three years in Gliddens Organic Chemical Division responsible for their world wide sales of Aroma and Flavor chemicals.
Tom joined Petroferm Inc, a start-up biotechnology/specialty chemical company in Fernandina Beach; FL. He was Executive Vice President for 6 years, and guided Petroferm through the critical start-up period where cash is king. Petroferm, Inc. today has evolved into a multimillion private specialty chemical company operating world wide.
In 1989 he returned to the paint industry and joined International Paint until his retirement in 2003.
The Tom Taylor Corp. is a management consulting company. Their clients include Ameron International, Inc., Jotun Paint, Ocean Development Group, Disney Cruise Line, Azura Media, Camper & Nicholsons International, and SeaCoat Technology LLC.
Tom serves as a member of the Marine Advisory Committee for the Broward County Board of Commissioners. He is a member of SNAME, The Propeller Club of USA, The Miami River Group, and the International Council of Cruise Lines.
